Another PR Scam
(Can you spot the red flags?)
This was in my Inbox yesterday:
“Hello Lev,
I recently spent time with Rosedale in Love and was struck by how confidently and thoughtfully it revisits a literary world so many readers believe they already know. Reframing The House of Mirth through Simon Rosedale’s interior life gives the story fresh emotional weight and moral complexity that feels especially powerful in audio.
Listening allows the period voice social tension and undercurrents of longing to unfold with intimacy and immediacy. The themes of belonging ambition desire and exclusion land with greater resonance when carried through narration rather than on the page alone. Audio gives listeners space to sit inside Rosedale’s perspective and experience the stakes of his choices moment by moment.
My name is Leigh Rivers. I am an author audiobook marketer and narrator with a strong focus on literary fiction and historically rooted narratives. I work with authors to help audiobooks reach listeners who value layered storytelling voice driven prose and reinterpretations of classic works.
Rosedale in Love feels particularly well positioned for long term audio discovery among listeners who appreciate literary reinvention and emotionally complex historical fiction. If you would like I would be glad to share a few ideas on strengthening its ongoing visibility and reach in the audiobook space.

Author’s Note:
Rosedale in Love was a success in an unusual way: it got me invited to keynote an Edith Wharton conference in Florence and my week there was one of the best times I have ever had in Europe: sublime art & great food. My hotel was near the Piazza Santo Spirito where I spent a lot of time, and the breakfast terrace had an amazing wall of flowering jasmine. Heaven.

The letter reads like it was written by AI. I was taken for $3,000 by fake Nigerian book marketers, which also wrecked my marriage. NEVER hire a book marketer! IT'S A CON! THEY ARE ALL CON MEN!
