I was so immersed in editing yesterday that I didn’t join the chorus of writers for Lit Mag Brag.
I’ve often felt I’m in “the zone” when a class or workshop I teach is going supremely well. Ditto with doing readings from my work or invited talks. This also happens when I’m writing and it’s a great place to be when I’m editing. Those are the vibrant times when I see very clearly what it is I can say that can help the writer strengthen her work. That was my Saturday and it made me as happy as seeing the sun shine in mid-Michigan as I worked at my PC.
Here now is my January report:
I've had a flood of ideas since the height of the pandemic and every time I think I have nothing new to write, a conversation with my spouse or some event or memory is a catalyst for writing something new. Publications and acceptances have the same effect.

Funny! But seriously, lit mags need to skip the rejection. Commercial magazines don't send rejections. Agents don't send rejections. Lit mags are the first market for writers. Let's start 'em right.
Mazel tov, Lev! Best wishes for 2025! Janet
