Our Mini Cooper, sitting quietly in our driveway unattended, will just decide to roll its windows down. After looking at each other askance and wondering about homeless people, a Google told us ours wasn’t the only one.

When we called the service department, they speculated that it could have been a bird strike. I said no way, since there were no feathers, no blood, nothing organic, just chunks of glass.

I enjoyed this essay. I'm glad that you were not injured. Perhaps the heat was a factor. Sunroofs should be designed to withstand cracking. In your added note about this essay, you have a typing error. In paragraph 3, you mean "harder," not "harded." Best wishes! Janet
