1—Christopher Walken playing the Emperor was as dreary as Michael Douglas playing Ben Franklin.
2—Too many dark scenes. Yes, that style of cinematography is hip, but they often deadened the drama.
3—Ending the movie with a close-up of Chani when that’s not what the book or the first movie was about.
4—The editing seemed chaotic at times as the movie jerked from one scene to another. The first movie flowed better.
5—I admired Timothy C. in “Call Me By Your Name” but he seemed very flat here, as uninspiring as he was in The King. Nice hair, though.
6—The battle scenes were poorly edited and hard to follow (see #2 & #4 above).
7—If Javier Bardem’s accent indicated that he was from the south of Arrakis, why was he the only one with that accent?
8—The writers left out Paul’s sister who would have played a pivotal role with the Emperor that Paul ended up playing.
9—Atrocious, obvious CGI in the arena fight was bizarrely colorless, both visually and emotionally.
10—A climactic moment where Paul passes through ranks of Sardaukar—whose swords were out—seemed unbelievable.
Lev Raphael has been a fan of sci-fi fantasy books and movies since he was in second grade and discovered Isaac Azimov, Heinlein and other writers of that golden age. He’s seen the first Dune movie three times & read the novel ditto. He even read the second and third books in the Dune series. Don’t ask.

"Atrocious, obvious CGI" Yep. CGI's going to wreck movies
I hate movies with scenes that take place in the dark. Yes, they're realistic, but I can't see what's going on!
