The New York Times ruled in my family when I was growing up in Manhattan. My mother especially loved the Sunday Magazine articles, my brother relished the daily puzzles (which he did in pen!), and I enjoyed reading book reviews and features about authors.
Marilyn Stasio reviewed my third mystery, and I still think of it as a high point. Congratulations on the review and reprint. As I often tell myself, it's the "little things" that make us happy.
Congrats, and a NYTBR isn't a little thing at all. I was on a panel with her at a Club Med in the Caribbean (!) and she was flustered when I thanked her and told her she was the most important mystery reviewer in the country.
I've only blurbed books I really liked. But I do know there are blurb whores out there, who love to see their names in print, even in such a small space as a bokk jacket.
ᴸᵒᵛᵉˡʸ!
All it takes is one incredibly prestigious person believing in you.
And great timing.
Oh, and some fine writing.
That's important, too. 😏
So much of a career is timing and serendipity.
Thanks for the inside look Lev. And congrats on the multiple printings. This is more validating than anything.
You're welcome. It's always cool when a publisher picks up a series that has had a good run.
Congratulations on scoring a NYT review and the reissue of the book!
I literally jumped up and down when the NYT review came through by fax.
Oh, I believe it!
Congratulations on the re-publish! (and the review, of course!)
Thanks. The new press is doing a wonderful job of production and promotion.
Kudos and congrats on the re-issuing of that wonderful, wonderful novel!
Thank you, sir.

exciting story & good news on the re-publication
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks. They're not only doing all ten mysteries but also my first novel.
I've loved my starred reviews--but even better was a rave from Kirkus one time, given how vicious they can be.
And what your publisher said makes sense and that's the current trend for sure: blurbs from best-selling same-genre authors.
