I've noticed just the opposite. That people will say "my cancer," etc. Hmmmm...
Cancer isn't a body part, right?
But I have heard some friends say "the cancer has spread to--"
This is true. I have always noticed the way people use the possessive when talking about their disease. Maybe it's just me who said "my breast" "my heart" etc. Fun to think about this. Thanks!
